#TuesdayTruth Luke 2:10-11

Luke 2:10-11

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’ ”

JOY.

You hear a lot about JOY this time of year. Do you really consider the source of our JOY as believers? We can be “happy” about a lot of things (finding a $5 in our pocket, getting a new job, hitting a PR at the gym, etc), but this is different from true, full, unabated JOY.

Happiness can vary minute to minute, based on our circumstances/experiences, whereas this JOY that we talk about is not something that changes as we move through life. No. Our JOY is ever present, constant, and unshakeable because the source of our JOY is just the same: ever present, constant and unshakeable. HE is unchanging.

It is as described in the verses above. Many years ago, the source of our JOY came to this earth. That was the good news that was received then, and that we receive now: we have a Savior! Not only did He come to this earth, but HE HAS WON THE VICTORY for us!

Why would we not be JOYFUL once we realize that?!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for sending your Son. Thank you for that GOOD NEWS that brings us true JOY. Thank you also for the great JOY that we have in being your sons and daughters. Thank you that the victory is already won.

We love You Father, Amen.
