#TuesdayTruth Psalms 73:23-26
Psalms 73:23-26
“Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Truth time. There are times when I feel alone. There are times when I feel like no one could understand what I have experienced in life or how I feel about those really difficult times. Often, I do not even have the words to try to help someone understand, even if I wanted to. There are times when I want SO BADLY a certain outcome or circumstance to turn “my way,” and when it does not, I can sometimes feel so down.
I would venture a guess that all of us have felt this way at some point in our lives. It can be so isolating.
For me, the problem often stems from me looking to have my “needs” (or more likely, “wants”) met by something or someone here on this earth, instead of by/with my Heavenly Father.
<Cue the A-HA moment!> That is a recipe for disappointment.
In those moments, I challenge all of us to remind ourselves of the beautiful truth in the passage here- earth has NOTHING we desire. Our utmost desire, as believers, must always be nearness to Him, satisfaction in Him, life with Him. When that is our desire, we will never be disappointed and we will never feel isolated.
For, He is always with me. He guides me. He is my strength and all that I will ever need.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for holding us by the hand. Thank you for your guidance, for being our strength. Thank you for being all that we need. Thank you for the promise of You taking us into glory one wonderful, beautiful, day.
We love You Father, Amen.
