#TuesdayTruth Jeremiah 31:25

Jeremiah 31:25

“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

During the “Christmas season” we sometimes tend to gravitate toward those songs that have become “seasonal.” Part of the song “O Holy Night” plays in my mind when I read the verse above, specifically because I consider the “weary world” in which we now live. You might listen along to the song as you consider these words found in it:

“O holy night, the stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth;

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,

‘Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn…”

Can you relate to living in this “weary world?” I can. There is a lot of talk about this year, 2020, being one for the books, and not for positive reasons. It could most definitely be described as a year that has made many of us “weary” or “faint.”

Thank God, though, that the story does not end there; He can make all things new. In the verse for this week, we see this promise, clear and concise- He will REFRESH the weary and SATISFY the faint! We truly have reason to rejoice despite the appearance of our circumstances.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you refresh our weary souls. Thank you for promising to make all things new. Thank you that we are not trapped in our sin or shame, but instead, are free. Thank you for adopting us and calling us your own. We do not deserve it, but we readily accept the gift, and say thank you over and over again, for all of eternity.

We love you Father, Amen.
