#TuesdayTruth Jeremiah 17:7-8
Jeremiah 17:7-8
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
If you have ever wondered who you can trust, this verse answers that quite clearly. Our trust should be placed in God because He, alone, will NEVER let us down. The reason for this is the character of our God.
He will NEVER fail us. He will NEVER change His mind about how much He loves us. He will NEVER decide that we are not worth the cross; that debt has been paid.
He will ALWAYS be there. He will ALWAYS be available to us. He will ALWAYS want us to be with Him. He will ALWAYS rejoice over the return of ONE SINGLE sinner.
What a comfort that is, especially since we live in an ever-changing world, but HE NEVER CHANGES.
Wrap your mind around that. Think about the many parables that Jesus gave us to illustrate this (Luke 15). He left the 99 for that 1 (I am that 1 and so are you). He came running for me as I, the prodigal daughter, returned. He rejoiced over my return, as when that “lost coin” was found.
We are not promised an easy, problem-free existence. In fact, the verses above say, “when” the heat comes, not “if” the heat comes; BUT, it says, even in the trouble, in the hard times, we can be confident and can continue to grow, thanks to our nearness to the source of life.
Envision it- we are like the tree, planted by the water. We never want for nourishment. We never fear about our needs being met. No! We can have full confidence in Him.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your steadfast love. Thank you that, even in the face of unfamiliar events/circumstances, we can be confident in You. Thank you that this allows us to be FREE of fear. Thank you for your Son. Thank you, for You.
We love You Father, Amen.
