#TuesdayTruth 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Where does renewal come from?

When we look around this world, we see brokenness. We see sadness. We see trouble. We see people treating one another badly. It is easy to get bogged down in all this and to “lose heart.” There is a reason that God tells us not to focus on that which is seen. The thing is, all that is seen is “temporary.”

Instead, we focus on the unseen; we focus on eternity. We have an eternal perspective. We do not put all our mental energy into the “temporary.” This is SO easy to say, but SO difficult to put into practice. However, when you are able to, it is so freeing.

So ask yourself: Does this matter in the scope of eternity? If it does, then it is worth your time, your energy, and your effort. If it does not, then we should consider it as a momentary trouble, and we should focus on the bigger picture- the eternal glory that He promises far outweighs all those momentary troubles.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the inward renewal that we only get from knowing you. Thank you for the assurance of eternal glory that will so far outweigh the troubles of this life. Thank you for the encouragement in the scriptures for us, your children.

We love you Father, Amen.
