#TuesdayTruth Romans 12:16-18

Romans 12:16-18

“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

How many times have I caught myself feeling proud of some accomplishment or position that I seem to think I am responsible for (when in actuality, any good thing that happens on this earth is all because of God)? Or, how many times have I been brought low because of pride that went un-checked? On the reverse side, how many times have I been the one “of low position” that some kind soul has reached out to and included? There are so many verses that tell us the consequence of being prideful and so many that tell us the benefit of remaining humble.

Here’s the thing. We all have different “stuff”- different life experiences, different perspectives, different struggles, different families, different things that are important to us, different levels of understanding about various things, different successes, different failures, etc. The goal here is to “live at peace with everyone.” The scripture does not say to live at peace with those most like you or those you understand best. It says everyone.

What a beautiful, wonderful world if we could all just follow those words:

Live in harmony.

Don’t be proud.

Live at peace.

Wow! Those are goals right there.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your instruction. Thank you for fellowship with our brothers and sisters. Thank you that you give us all different backgrounds and experiences and thank you that we can learn from one another because of these differences. Thank you for bringing peace to this broken, fallen, world through your Son.

We love you Father, Amen.
