#TuesdayTruth Ephesians 2:8-10

Ephesians 2:8-10

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

It is a fact: There is nothing that we can do to earn our salvation or to sway God’s opinion toward our favor. This would be really discouraging if it was the end of the story, but…

Praise the Father that the following is also a fact: We are saved by GRACE, not by anything that we are expected to do or achieve. And what on earth does this mean for us? God offers us that which we do not deserve, nor do we have the ability to earn- His grace. He reaches down, “because of His great love for us” and because He “is rich in mercy” (Ephesians 2:5) and offers us His forgiving love and unexplainable kindness just because of who He is, not who we were. He offers us new life!

No human effort can gain salvation. It is a gift. And thank goodness for this, as we would be utterly hopeless without it. So, now let’s go and do the “good works” that God has created us to do!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for grace. Thank you that you do not expect us to go down a checklist to earn your love or our salvation, but instead you offer it to us freely. Thank you for giving us the physical ability to help others, and help us to see all your children as you do. Thank you for your word, for how it comforts us and gives us peace.

We love you Father, Amen.
