#TuesdayTruth Psalms 62:1-2

Psalms 62:1-2

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

When I read this Scripture recently, I spent some time considering what it means for a soul to find rest. It sounds like something we would all want, and even need, doesn’t it?

I think we all know what it looks like for a person to get physical rest, but “soul-level rest” is different. It is another level. The thing that keeps coming to mind when I do consider this idea is PEACE. Unless I am sorely mistaken, I think that rest for the soul must be dependent on the presence of peace.

As you read the words above, you can see the correlation- a soul finds rest in God and our salvation is from Him. Considering that this world is not our home and that we are eternal beings, the thing that can truly give “soul-level rest” in the form of peace is the knowledge and understanding our eternity is secure by the salvation He has offered.

What a blessing to know that this is (in no way) dependent on us! This is a gift, free and clear, from our Heavenly Father. He is our rock. He is our salvation. We will not be shaken, because our souls find rest in Him!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for “soul rest.” Thank you for your perfect peace. Thank you for the offer of salvation through your Son’s sacrifice. This is more than we can ever fully understand, but we say thank you.

We love you Father,

Amen.
