Tuesday Truth Romans 8:15-17
Romans 8:15-17
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
As Easter approaches, it is natural to consider “Holy week” - to think about the days/events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, and THEN resurrection!
It was a celebration on Palm Sunday as Jesus entered Jerusalem (John 12).
Then, things got serious as Jesus cleared the temple (Matthew 21).
Then, He does what He did His whole ministry- He teaches (Luke 20).
He is betrayed by Judas (Mark 14).
He has a Last Supper, washes the feet of His disciples…
then He is arrested (Matthew 26).
Have you ever thought about how Jesus knew, actually KNEW, what was going to happen to Him? And yet, He did not live in fear. He knew who His Father was and He knew to whom He belonged and said “Your will be done” (Matthew 26:42). He went to the cross to so that we could be called sons and daughters and so that we also did not have to live with a spirit of fear, but instead a spirit of adoption. We are His and He is ours.
Hallelujah for the cross.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you that we are NOT bound by fear, but you have instead adopted us as your children and made us Your heirs- what a glorious inheritance! Thank you that we can call you our good, good, Father.
We love you,
Amen
