#TuesdayTruth Psalms 103:8-12

Psalms 103:8-12

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. How comforting is it to consider that as you read the words above!

He is compassionate- not uncaring or turning a “blind eye” to our situations, but sympathizing with us right where we are.

He gives grace and is slow to anger- grace that we certainly did not (and could not) ever earn, but that He gives because of His goodness.

He abounds in love- “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). And the extent of His love? “As high as the heavens are above the earth…” It’s unimaginable and, yet, so welcome.

And possibly the most encouraging thing I read here- “He does not treat us as our sins deserve.” Wow. Instead, He removes them “as far as the east is from the west.”

What I read here serves to remind me what a good, good God that we serve!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your love and faithfulness, for your compassion and kindness. Thank you for being slow to anger, for not giving us as what we deserve, but instead giving us grace that we could never earn. You know more than anyone how much we need that. In turn, help us to also give grace and be slow to anger.

We love you Father, Amen.
