#TuesdayTruth Romans 8:14-15

Romans 8:14-15

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ ”

Fear. It’s a powerful thing. Fear can quite literally paralyze someone. I know. I have been there. That situation at work, school, or in your relationships/family that seems overwhelming? That circumstance for which you do not see a possible positive outcome?

Unfortunately, it is easy to allow our minds to run amuck with “what ifs" and then, from there, the “snowball effect.” The- “what if this happens? and then that? and then that? and then that? and then…ruin.” If you do not personally struggle with this, it sounds so silly. If you do struggle with this, then you know exactly what I am talking about.

You know what is more powerful than fear, anxiety, worry, or doubt? The Spirit of the living God. And you know why that is important to us, as believers? It is because when we were adopted by God, we received that Spirit; not a spirit of fear, but the all powerful Holy Spirit, who helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26). We have only to call out to our Father, talk to Him just as we would to a trusted friend (because He is one) and, then, to be still.

We are NOT bound to fear. We are sons and daughters of the Most High. He has never lost one single battle and He will not start now. The victory is already won. We have only to put our hope and our trust in Him.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving us the victory over fear. Thank you for your Holy Spirit. We know that we are weak, but you are strong. Thank you that your power is made perfect in weakness.

We love you Father, Amen.
