#TuesdayTruth Jeremiah 32:27

“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”

“Oh no. I can’t do this. It’s too much.” — How many times have I had one of these thoughts? Have you? What about someone you know? Something does not go as I expected or hoped in my personal life, in my family, at work, at the gym, etc. and I let myself get overwhelmed with fear/worry/anxiety. Personally, I tend to be a “fixer.” When I see a problem, my instinct is to formulate a solution to that problem and address it. However, there are many times in life when a problem arises and I do not know how to help, what to do, how to act, or where to go. Without a solution, my mind tends to wander to all the possible outcomes (and these are usually the most unlikely, worst-case, scenarios) and the outcomes of that, and so on and so forth.

Re-read that verse above. This is God, the Creator of the whole universe, our loving Heavenly Father, is reminding us of just who He is. The question is rhetorical, of course, but the answer would be "Of course not! There is nothing too hard for our God.” Our God is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving, and everywhere. He was and is and is to come. He sees you and me. He has never been surprised. He has never been caught off guard. He has never had too much on His plate. He has never “thrown in the towel.”

Thank goodness that His strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Even when things look bleak, when we do not know what to do or where to turn, when it appears that the odds are stacked against us and we do not see a way out; even when things seem hopeless, ask yourself that simple question again — Is ANYTHING too hard for my God? The answer to that question is always “no” and the reminder is that your story is not finished yet.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for reminding us of just who you are. Thank you we that we can rest, knowing that nothing is too hard for you. Thank you that even when things feel too much or too hard for us, we can rely on you. Thank you that you never expected us to bear the burdens of this life alone. Thank you for your perfect strength. We declare it again and again — THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR YOU, LORD.

We love you Father, Amen.
