#TuesdayTruth Jeremiah 31:3-4

“The Lord appeared to us in the past saying:

‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt…’ ”

When I consider that God calls us to Himself “with loving-kindness,” I am completely undone. The thing is, I know just how far I have strayed and I am acutely aware of just how unworthy I am of that perfect love. Yet, despite that, He gently draws me in to His “everlasting” love.

Although our God is all-knowing, He does not point out my flaws, my sins, my fears, my downfalls, my guilt or my shame. No! He looks at me and He sees His daughter, His beloved one, the one that He has drawn in. I am the prodigal daughter that He runs toward to welcome back into His home. He sees me as His own.

He does not end there- God also says He will build us up again, that we will be rebuilt. We can all think of a time when we have really messed up, and maybe even feel as though our actions have led to our own ruin. However, our God is a God of RESTORATION. Although we do not deserve it, He rebuilds our lives; He will not leave us in our ruin. He will, “heal us…revive us…restore us” (Hosea 6:1-2). If there is one thing I know, it is that what my God declares, that He will do. I can rest in this knowledge.

So, how can we describe the love of the Father for us? “Everlasting.” Never-ending. Unlimited. Eternal. Boundless. This is how he loves us- every single one of us. This is perfect love. And guess what- “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…” (1 John 4:18). This is the love that we all yearn for, and that we only find in our Heavenly Father. What more could we want/need?!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your everlasting love. Thank you for drawing us near with your loving-kindness. Thank you that we can love because you first loved us. Thank you for showing us perfect love, and thank you that there is no fear in perfect love.

We love you Father, Amen.
