#TuesdayTruth Psalm 16:5-8

“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

In life it can be easy to feel as though we are just “muddling through.” At times, we may not be sure about our direction in life. We do not know which way to go or what to do, but we can take comfort in these words, which are not just words, but a promise.

If we get down to it and realize that God is all that we really need and He is the one that we can truly count on, we know that our future is secure. There is no one better on whom to depend than the Creator, the one who is all powerful and all knowing, the one who loves us more than we can ever understand or imagine. Not only does He know our need before we speak it, but He is the only one with the capacity to help us.

God is our portion. He is our security. Our focus is on Him. He counsels us. We set Him before us always. With him, we “will not be shaken.” Not only that, but we truly have a delightful inheritance from our Father, and can say “the boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places.”

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that our boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places. Thank you that when we do not know what to do or where to go, you counsel us. Thank you for being that gentle voice that we need. Thank you for the shift in perspective that we have when we keep you ever before us.
