#TuesdayTruth Isaiah 25:1

Isaiah 25:1

“Lord you are my God;

I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”

When I read this verse I am struck by the descriptors of our God. I realize that I should not need a reminder, but, even so, it reminded me of several reasons why He is the only one worthy of our praise.

  1. What He does, He does in “perfect faithfulness.” I have written before about the quality of being “steadfast,” and how I long to be steadfast. After all, the very next chapter of Isaiah tells us that He keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in Him (Isaiah 26:3). If He says it, then He will do it, without fail- that is perfect faithfulness.

  2. He has done “wonderful things.” Psalms 9:1 says, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Let’s never get tired of telling of the wonderful things He has done for us. Even in the toughest of times, we can always brag on our Savior, because He is our Savior.

  3. His “plan” for us is a plan that was in place “long ago.” That plan is far better than any of our own human, earthly plans. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). Thank goodness that He teaches us, nudges us and directs us in the way we should go (Isaiah 48:17). Let’s never stop listening for that still, small voice and let’s never stop seeking Him and His plan.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your perfect faithfulness. Thank you that we can depend on you. Thank you that your plan is better than our plan. Thank you for the gentle guidance you give us and please help us to always stay sensitive to your voice.

We love you Father, Amen.
