#TuesdayTruth Romans 5:6-8

Romans 5:6-8

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

This passage sums up the reason for the hope that we have in the gospel.

Consider these phrases:

  • “At JUST the right time”- It was not too early, nor was it too late. His timing is always better than our timing.

  • “when we were STILL POWERLESS”- There was/is absolutely nothing that we could do to help ourselves.

  • “Christ died for the ungodly”- He does not say this gift was for the good or the ones who tried the hardest. God knows full well just how sinful and lost we are, but He rescued us anyways.

Have you ever wondered if God really loves you? The answer is right there. The demonstration of His love for us- “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

I honestly can not fathom this amount of love. It is too great for my feeble human mind, but I am also so deeply thankful for it. There is absolutely nothing that we did, or could do, to make up for all our wrongs, to earn our way back to Him. We did not, and do not, deserve the gift of salvation, but He extends that gift anyway.

Now, let’s live like we believe that; like sons and daughters of the one true King.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the greatest gift in the history of the universe, over the expanse of all time. Thank you for sending your Son to pay the price for my sins. Thank you for fully knowing me and loving me anyway. Thank you for the opportunity to live my life in the freedom of that knowledge.

We love you,

Amen.
